Synopsis :
De jaren 50. Lydia's huwelijk gaat niet van een leien dakje terwijl ze de zorg van haar zoontje op zich neemt. Wanneer deze ziek wordt haalt Lydia Jean Markham erbij, de nieuwe vrouwelijke dokter uit het dorp. Er groeit een sterke band tussen de twee vrouwen en Lydia vindt troost in deze nieuwe vriendschap die stilaan intieme proporties kent. Hun relatie doet vele wenkbrauwen fronsen bij de dorpsbewoners.
